Kwasniewski takes Kansas Lottery 98.9 pole

(KANSAS CITY – Oct. 4, 2013) – Dylan Kwasniewski won the Menards Pole Award presented by Ansell Friday in his first-ever ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards event. Kwasniewski, in the No. 55 Royal Purple-Rockstar Energy Toyota, knocked Corey LaJoie off of the pole with a lap of 176.823 mph at Kansas Speedway. The Kansas Lottery 98.9 is tonight at 7:30 p.m. CT.

“We definitely have a car that can win,” Kwasniewski said. “This is an awesome experience.”

ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards champion Frank Kimmel qualified fourth, one spot behind Chad Boat in the No. 84 Billy Boat Performance Exhaust Toyota.

Grant Enfinger hit the wall during his qualifying attempt, heavily damaging the No. 90 Motor Honey-Casite Ford. He was examined and released from the infield care center. He qualified fifth but the team withdrew because of the damaged car.

Kwasniewski, who is the leader of the NASCAR K&N Series East point standings, became the fifth different Venturini Motorsports driver this season to sit on the pole and the first for the No. 55 car. John Wes Townley and Kyle Benjamin each won poles in the No. 15, Justin Boston won two poles in the No. 25 and Milka Duno sat on the pole at Talladega in the No. 35.

“I have a real fast race car,” Kwasniewski said. “It’s definitely a fast track, a place where you can put th pedal to the metal. This is my first time on a mile and a half track. I just have to take care of the car and go out there and be smart.”

Kwasniewski will be one of a dozen drivers competing in the SCOTT Rookie Challenge.

Townley, in the Zaxby’s No. 15 Toyota, spun during his first qualifying lap, turned around, then completed qualifying 15th. He was the fastest car in the morning practice session.

Six drivers ended up tying for the season lead in the Menards Pole Award presented by Ansell standings. Winning two poles for the season was Boston, Ryan Blaney, Andrew Ranger, Mason Mitchell, Ken Schrader and Mason Mingus.
