AMKUS renews sponsorship with ARCA
The tools constructed by AMKUS Rescue Systems are an official product within the ARCA Safety Initiative. At the race track, AMKUS high-performance extrication tools would notably be used in situations where a driver could not exit a damaged race car on their own and would need to be pulled out. The tools built for motorsports are identical to systems being used by rescue squads in towns around the world, and are built in America; AMKUS is owned in and operates out of Downers Grove, Ill., a western suburb of Chicago.

Prior to the start of the 2013 season, members of the ARCA Safety Initiative went through a training session with AMKUS. Jayme Beard, Safety Initiative Coordinator for ARCA, said several ARCA officials attended the training session.

“It is important for all of the ARCA officials who might need to use these tools to stay up to date on the proper use of the tools that work best for incidents on the race track,” Beard said.

High-technology computer-aided machines allow AMKUS to manufacture innovative designs to allow maximum spreading force and leverage, keeping tools easy to use for qualified professionals. The company has been working with ARCA for more than a decade.

The ARCA Safety Initiative is the culmination of forward thinking, combined efforts, and the desire to achieve a higher level of responsibility within the safety sector of the ARCA sanctioning body. In all, the Safety Initiative is designed to steer the safety efforts of the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, as well as all action at Toledo Speedway and Flat Rock Speedway, ARCA’s signature track properties.

The focus of the ARCA Safety Initiative remains exploring, examining, and reacting to the elements that comprise the safety environment in the sport, as well as ensuring the well-being of those who participate, observe, and manage.

The past half-decade has seen significant improvements regarding driver safety in the sport. The combined and independent efforts of the leading motorsports sanctioning bodies worldwide have brought tremendous advances to the safety of automobile racing.

The Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) is among the leading auto racing sanctioning bodies in the country. Founded in 1953 by John and Mildred Marcum, the organization administers more than 100 events each year in multiple racing series, including the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, the ARCA/CRA Super Series, the ARCA Truck Series and the ARCA Midwest Tour, plus weekly racing at Toledo and Flat Rock Speedways.
