CLR Racing Teams With Brandon Whitt For Daytona
MOORESVILLE NC (1-31-06) - CLR Racing and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series veteran driver Brandon Whitt have teamed up for the 43rd annual Daytona ARCA 200.

Whitt will be aboard the #57 CLR Ford for the event while veteran crew chief Joey Cudmore will direct the effort from pit road.

“Its great to have a wheelman like Brandon in our car,” said Cudmore. “His success in the truck series proves that he can get the job done. We’ve got a great car and great power supplied to us by Joe Rhyne.

“We expect that a successful run at Daytona will prove to up and coming racers that CLR Racing is the right place for driver development and that Brandon Whitt is a top driving candidate for any ride in any series.”

Whitt, a native of El Cajon, California, got his start at El Cajon Speedway before moving onto the NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Series where he was Rookie of the Year in 2002. In 2003, Whitt made his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut at Mesa Marin Raceway with a top 20 finish. In 2004, after only a handful of starts in the Truck Series, Whitt relocated to Mooresville, NC to embark on a full-time Truck schedule. Whitt eventually wheeled his Toyota Tundra into victory lane at Memphis Motorsports Park for his first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series win.

CLR Racing has had a strong, solid history at Daytona & Talladega posting two Pork Poles and three top-fives in their last three starts there.

Cudmore is confident that CLR’s superspeedway success will continue.

“At CLR Racing we’ve got all of the elements we need. Our crew has been together for years; a full time engineer to assist with data and driver development; great engines and equipment. “I’ve been in racing for thirty years and this team has the best combination of people, knowledge and experience.

“Driver development has been the team’s strength. Last year we ran with three different rookies in ARCA. Two finished in the top 12 and one finished 18th in their first speedway starts. At the end of 2005 we entered a rookie in two NASCAR Truck Series race and started 28th each time.”

CLR Racing’s career-best ARCA RE/MAX Series finish was second at Chicagoland Speedway with Bowling Green, Kentucky driver Stuart Kirby in the seat.

The CLR team is currently working on a balanced plan of races for the 2006 series,” added Cudmore. “We have both Fords and Chevrolets ready to go.”
