From Michigan to Minnesota, ARCA haulers on the march to Elko; Drivers Dake, Ford full-ahead

(TOLEDO, Ohio – June 18, 2014) - It’s a long ride to Elko New Market, Minnesota from the ARCA home office in Temperance, Michigan, but that’s ok for ARCA hauler drivers Jim Dake (left) and Chris Ford (right) who do what they love, and love what they do.

“For me, it’s something I love to do…something I’ve always wanted to do for this series,” Dake said.

“We get a lot of thumbs-up going down the road. A lot of people stopping at the rest areas taking pictures and asking a lot of questions. I love the ARCA Series and I love answering the questions for the people who take an interest in what we do.”

Dake also doesn’t mind seeing the scenery along the way.

“This trip to Elko is something I’ve never done; I haven’t been to this track, and that’s always exciting to see the sights along the way and see the new tracks. I’m looking forward to going to Madison and Lucas Oil Raceway too…I haven’t been to those two tracks either. But they’re all good to me.

“I consider this a very prestigious job…an honor to move this truck and trailer up and down the road for ARCA.”

Both the Administration hauler and Marketing hauler left Wednesday morning en route to Elko Speedway for the third annual Akona 250 presented by Federated Car Care Saturday, June 21.

Raceday at Elko starts with ARCA Racing Series practice from 1:30-2:15 p.m., with final practice following from 2:45-3:30. Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell follows at 5:30 with the Akona 250 set to take the green flag at 8.

Legends Cars will accompany the ARCA Racing Series for this year’s event with a feature event race at 6.

The Akona 250, along with ARCA Racing Series events at Winchester Speedway and Madison Int’l Speedway, marks the first of three events to be televised live on the CBS Sports Network in 2014.

ARCAracing.com will also feature ARCA Racing Series live timing and scoring of all on-track activities.

Jim and Chris and the rest of the ARCA officials do a great job of keeping the haulers sparkling as well. Every stop we go to, they are out there washing and polishing the rig. It's awesome to see the pride they take in their work!

What was not added to this story due to terrible phone service during the interview, was that it is also a honor to go up down the road with a professional like Chris Ford. We have a great time on the road, which is hard to find someone that you can get along with so well, because of the amount of time we spend together out here, and still get along and have fun. I couldn't think of a better person to run up and down the road with!!
