Jones to try again to make ARCA debut

(TOLEDO, Ohio – June 24, 2014) – Brandon Jones will try once again to make his ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards debut.

Jones was on the ARCA entry list for the April race at Salem Speedway. He later withdrew, however, after a scheduling conflict. Now, the 17-year-old Atlanta native is entered in a Turner Scott Motorsports car for the Herr’s Chase the Taste 200 presented by Federated Car Care at Winchester Speedway July 6.

Jones began racing in 2010 under the watchful eye of Cale Gale, the winner of the 2012 ARCA Mobile 200. He won track championships at Lanier Speedway and Gresham Motorsports Park in 2011 before turning his attention to the PASS, UARA and NASCAR K&N series. In 2013 he made his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut at Bristol Motor Speedway. He’s made five career truck series starts and has one top five finish.

Jones will be joining the entry list for the historic half-mile at Winchester. ARCA has been racing at the track since the 1950s, but it’s history dates back to the early 1900s.

The Herr’s Chase the Taste 200 presented by Federated Car Care marks the series’ 25th silver anniversary appearance at Winchester, located near the Indiana-Ohio border, just northeast of Indianapolis.

The Herr’s Chase the Taste 200 also serves as the grand finale in a triple-header race weekend that includes the ‘King of the Wing’ Davey Hamilton-promoted Sprint Car East-West Shootout Friday, July 4 and the Top Speed Modified Tour on Saturday, July 5, which accompanies ARCA Racing Series practice and qualifying. The explosive and festive weekend culminates with the Herr’s Chase the Taste 200 finale Sunday afternoon.

Celebrating a ‘Century of Speed’ at Winchester, the Friday night, July 4 show includes an Independence Day fireworks display, the ‘Party in the Pavilion’, the NASCAR Nationwide Series race from Daytona on big screen TVs and the Winchester Old Timers Club cars on display on the frontstretch.

Discount tickets will be available for $20 each at Menards locations in Anderson, Fort Wayne East, Fort Wayne South, Fort Wayne West, Muncie and Richmond, Ind., plus stores in Celina, Sidney and Tipp City, Ohio. Race fans can save $10 by purchasing a single-day ticket, or $20 by purchasing a three-day ticket for $55.

The Herr’s Chase the Taste 200 presented by Federated Car Care will be at 2 p.m. The race will be broadcast live on the CBS Sports Network. will feature live timing and scoring of all on-track activity both Saturday and Sunday.
