McIntosh ready for ARCA debut on July 25 at Lucas Oil Raceway

(MOORESVILLE, N.C. – July 2, 2014) – Shannon McIntosh has been waiting a long time to make her ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards debut.  That day will come when she joins her Cunningham Motorsports team at Lucas Oil Raceway for the SCOTT Get Geared Up 200 presented by Federated Car Care on July 25.

“I can’t wait to get back to Indianapolis, especially during the Brickyard 400 weekend,” McIntosh said. “The opportunity to race for Cunningham Motorsports is absolutely huge for me and I intend to give the team the results we are capable of getting in July.”

Originally planned for April at Salem Speedway, McIntosh’s debut had to be pushed back to July, due to sponsorship woes.  The delay has only intensified her resolve to make the most of her opportunity.

“July 25 is actually the day after my 25th birthday and it has definitely been a long time in the making,” McIntosh said of her ARCA debut. “Finally having a date nailed down and to know I’m actually racing is huge.  I am so relieved and ready to go.  I know Briggs (Cunningham) and Kerry (Scherer) have worked hard to give me this opportunity and I am so grateful.”

Driving since the age of 5 when she cut her teeth in the Quarter Midget Series at Kil-Kare Speedway in Xenia, Ohio, she has progressed to the ARCA Racing Series through dirt Micro & Mini Sprints, USAC Focus & Midgets, dirt late models, 360 winged Sprint Cars and most recently, INDYCAR’S USF2000 development series.

“Although we had some complications with intended sponsorship for this year, Cunningham Motorsports has remained behind me,” she said. “To have this kind of belief and support really says a lot about what we have here.  I want to thank Kerry Scherer for believing in me, Paul Andrews and the team for giving me the chance and mostly to Mr. Cunningham for his support.  I could not be more honored to drive for this team in Indianapolis.”

McIntosh is an Ohio native who now lives in St. Petersburg, Fla.
