ARCA to return to New Jersey's Thunderbolt Raceway in 2015

(TOLEDO, Ohio – November 11, 2014) – The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards will return to New Jersey Motorsports Park in 2015, the eighth consecutive season the 63-year-old stock car racing series will race on the Millville, New Jersey road course.

“New Jersey Motorsports Park has become a key stop on the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards tour since our inaugural event there in 2008,” said ARCA President Ron Drager. “The diverse nature of the series schedule with short tracks, superspeedways, dirt and paved surfaces, is made whole with the NJMP road course event. Our long standing partnership with Lee Brahin, Brad Scott and their team at ‘The Park’ has established the track as the most significant road course venue in the six-decade history of our series.”

The road course race will be part of the diverse set of tracks for ARCA, which will also race on superspeedways, short tracks and dirt tracks.

“New Jersey Motorsports Park is thrilled to welcome back the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards during the May 23-24, 2015 race weekend in Millville,” said Park general manager/COO Brad Scott. “ARCA has been an annual highlight of our event schedule, bringing some of the brightest young stars in stock car racing to Thunderbolt Raceway and providing some of our most memorable and exciting finishes to date.”

Andrew Ranger of Quebec, Canada, is the four-time defending ARCA winner at New Jersey. He won from the Menards Pole presented by Ansell in 2011, 2012 and 2014. He also holds the ARCA qualifying record and race record.

“The facility is amazing,” Ranger said. “It is a great road course. It has a very fast part of the track, the long straight-away. It’s also slippery and technical at the same time. It’s a big challenge.”

Justin Allgaier, Patrick Long and Casey Roderick are the other New Jersey winners in an ARCA car.

Sitting on more than 500 acres in Millville, N.J., New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP) is nestled snugly in a beautifully forested region surrounded by scenic rivers and the nearby Delaware Bay. NJMP is conveniently located near Philadelphia, the Jersey Shore, New York and Baltimore, offering diverse and dynamic motorsports attractions.

ARCA races on Thunderbolt Raceway, one of two road courses on the property. It is a 2.25-mile paved road course with 14 challenging turns and a one-mile straightaway.

The Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) is among the leading auto racing sanctioning bodies in the country. Founded in 1953 by John and Mildred Marcum, the organization administers more than 100 events each year in multiple racing series, including the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, the ARCA/CRA Super Series, the ARCA Truck Series and the ARCA Midwest Tour, plus weekly racing at Toledo and Flat Rock Speedways.

The New Jersey race announcement is the fifth race announced on the 2015 ARCA schedule. More race dates will be announced in the coming days.
