Lyons lines up Daytona test as career stepping stone

(KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – December 9, 2014) – Since rounding out a successful Legends National Series campaign a few weeks ago, Robby Lyons is continuing his career climb. The 25-year-old Florida native plans to move up several gears and debut in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menard at the open ARCA test at Daytona International Speedway December 19-20.

Lyons plans to drive a Rick Ware Racing-prepared Chevrolet Impala. This will be his first taste of a 2.5-mile superspeedway driving a down force car on the iconic banked oval track.

"Being able to drive at Daytona has been a dream of mine since I was 5 years old," he said. "This is undoubtedly the biggest step I've taken to achieving that dream, and I can't wait to get behind the wheel of the RWR race car on December 19. If you dream it, you can do it.”

"The purpose of his test is merely to get Robby acquainted with the bigger stock car and higher speeds,” said Team Manager Andy Woolgar. “This test comes around once a year and provides a great opportunity as well as allowing him to gain approval for ARCA Racing Series races in 2015."

Lyons, with help from Sunwest Construction, will be under the guidance of Rick Ware and veteran NASCAR Sprint Cup driver and team owner Randy MacDonald.
