John Wes back in the ARCA saddle for S'loonshine 98.9 at Kansas

(MOORESVILLE, N.C. – October 13, 2015) – Fresh off his first victory in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, veteran John Wes Townley will make his first ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards start of the 2015 season at Kansas Speedway in the Full Throttle S’loonshine 9.89 Friday night.

Townley will drive the No. 88 Zaxby’s Chevrolet for Mason Mitchell Motorsports.

“I am really looking forward to being back behind the wheel of an ARCA car,” Townley said. “I have always enjoyed racing at Kansas. We always have excellent cars and always race very well. I feel like I have a little unfinished business there. I’ve had top-five finishes but the win has eluded me.”

Townley translates his recent win at Las Vegas into more confidence at Kansas.

“Any time you come off of a win it’s empowering and gives you confidence heading back to the track. You have to approach every weekend with the same mentality and that’s what I plan to do this weekend. I can’t thank Zaxby’s and Mason Mitchell Motorsports enough for the opportunity to be back racing in ARCA this weekend.”

Mason Mitchell Motorsports has fielded two entries throughout 2015, this weekend marks the first time the championship team will field three entries.

“This is a big step for us as a team to have John Wes Townley driving,” car owner Mason Mitchell said. “He has a lot of momentum right now after winning his first truck race at Vegas. He always races well at Kansas Speedway in the ARCA cars.

“We wanted to field a third entry for Kansas. We have proven we can field multiple entries and be successful. I believe all of our cars have a solid chance to win Friday evening.”

Townley is no stranger to Kansas Speedway. In three prior starts at the 1.5 mile track with the ARCA Racing Series the Georgia native has earned one top-five and two top-10 finishes with a best finish of third in the 2013 event.

Townley has one ARCA win in his ARCA Racing Series career, winning at Daytona Int’l Speedway in 2013.

Mason Mitchell Motorsports has two wins in 2015. The first win came at the Winchester Speedway in June with Austin Wayne Self driving and the second win came in July at the Iowa Speedway with Mitchell behind the wheel.

Chassis: Townley will race chassis No. 593 out of the MMM stable. The chassis raced here last year with Mason Mitchell to a fifth place finish. In six starts the chassis has one win (Chicagoland), three top-five’s and four top-10 finishes.

The Full Throttle S’loonshine 98.9 at Kansas Speedway will be live on Fox Sports 1 Friday, October 16 beginning at 7:30 p.m. CST.  ARCA will also provide live timing and scoring at for all on-track activity.
