Buescher, Weatherman go way back...both in headlines for Homestead

(TOLEDO, Ohio – November 19, 2015) – 2012 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards national champion Chris Buescher and 2015 SCOTT Brands ARCA Rookie of the Year Kyle Weatherman have a connection that goes way back.

Kyle Weatherman candid“When I started driving Legends Cars, I drove the same Legends Car that Chris (Buescher) drove for Michael Harper out of Texas,” Weatherman said. “We just started building on a relationship from there, and I started going to all his ARCA races.”

In the cover photo above, Kyle Weatherman (far right) joins Chris Buescher in Victory Lane at Toledo Speedway in 2011. Buescher earned the 2012 ARCA national championship driving for Roulo Brothers Racing.

When Weatherman moved to the Charlotte, North Carolina area from his Wentzville, Missouri home to pursue his racing career full-time, he roomed with Buescher for nearly a year-and-a-half.

Buescher continues to mentor Weatherman to this very day. Apparently it’s working well for both considering that Buescher leads the NASCAR Xfinity Series point standings with just one event left this weekend at Homestead Miami Speedway, and Weatherman secured, not only the SCOTT Brands Rookie of the Year title, but he also earned ARCA’s Calypso Lemonades Short Track Challenge championship in 2015.

While Buescher is trying to earn his career-first Xfinity Series championship, Weatherman will be making his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut Friday night at Homestead.

“I’ve already called him (Buescher) for Homestead,” Weatherman added. “He helps a lot; that’s for sure.”

Weatherman, as already announced, will be driving for Lira Motorsports in the Ford EcoBoost 200 at Homestead. A Roush Fenway Racing development driver, Weatherman’s Ford 150 will be sponsored by LifeXist, Massage Luxe, Bambrands.com, Jersey Mike’s Subs and Supplement Superstores, as well as Lira Motorsports gear sponsors Momo, TraqGear and Roux Helmets.

The green flag for the Ford EcoBoost 200 is scheduled for Friday, November 20 at 8 p.m. ET. The race is live on FOX Sports 1.

Buescher holds an 18-point lead in the Xfinity Series over last year’s champion Chase Elliott. 2011 ARCA Racing Series national champion Ty Dillon is currently third in Xfinity points, just 22 away from Buescher.
