Lira Motorsports names three of four drivers for Daytona; entries growing

(TOLEDO, Ohio – January 22, 2016) – Four entries from Lira Motorsports, initially listed as TBA’s, are now plugged in with three of the four drivers that will compete in the 53rd running of the Lucas Oil 200 at Daytona Int’l Speedway Saturday, February 13.

Penn Yan, New York rookie Brandon Lynn is now listed as the driver of the No. 36 Lira Motorsports Ford Fusion. In three career ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards starts, Lynn, all with Lira Motorsports in 2015, finished 13th at Salem Speedway after qualifying 13th, 13th at Kentucky Speedway after qualifying 15th and 17th at Kansas Speedway from the 14th starting position. The 38 Ford is still entered as TBA.

As expected, 2015 SCOTT Rookie of the Year and ARCA’s defending Short Track Challenge champion Kyle Weatherman is now the occupant of the No. 58 Lira Motorsports Ford. In 15 starts in 2015, his stat sheet included five runner-up runs at Salem Speedway, Iowa Speedway where he led right down to the last lap, Springfield, DuQuoin and the Kansas finale. He also earned three Menards Pole Awards presented by Ansell at Nashville, Iowa and Lucas Oil Raceway.

A notable change out of the Lira Motorsports camp is that David Levine, who finished fifth in national championship points for Lira in 2015, is no longer listed as the driver of the 59 car. Rather, Alhambra, California’s Jairo Avila is now in the driver’s seat. Avila has two career ARCA Racing Series starts, finishing a career-best 10th at Kansas Speedway in 2015, after qualifying a career-best 15th. He also finished 16th at Pocono Raceway last year. Jairo is also a veteran of NASCAR K&N Pro Series East competition. Jairo, whose family is from Colombia, speaks fluent Spanish.

The 53rd annual Lucas Oil 200 at Daytona is live on FS1 Saturday, February 13 and precedes NASCAR’s same-night Sprint Unlimited. The ARCA Racing Series takes to the track for practice Thursday from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Friday following final practice Friday morning (9:30 – 10:30 a.m.).
