The incredible Ken Schrader...a winner at Joliet Tuesday; en route to UMP Nat'ls, Iowa

TOLEDO, Ohio (June 28, 2017) -- While Austin Theriault was making his way to Victory Lane Friday night at Madison Int'l Speedway, the boss man Ken Schrader was wrenching away on his Federated Auto Parts dirt modified on a quarter-mile dirt track in Maribel, Wisconsin. All in all it ended up being a decent night for Ken Schrader Racing after you add Schrader's 4th-place finish at 141 Speedway the same night Theriault won at Madison.

"When there are 58 of anything, fourth's not bad," said Schrader. "We were all on the same straightaway…lost third on the last lap. It was a $10,000 to win show. They call it the Clash at the Creek."

Schrader was actually at Madison for much of the day before he sped off on his Suzuki motorcycle on a 200-mile-plus journey back to the ole dirt track.

"I left right after (ARCA) practice. I had planned on going to the ARCA race at Madison, but we got rained out the night before at 141, so we went back Friday night. We qualified 3rd so we were already locked in. After the race, we put the motorcycle in the truck and drove to Joliet (Ill.) Friday night. Got the motorcycle out of the truck and went to Anderson to do some suite-hopping Saturday night."

Schrader then went back to Joliet to prepare for a couple nights of modified racing at the Route 66 Raceway half-mile dirt. That's where things got even better for the 62-year-old veteran.

"We got number three last night."

That would be win number three on the modified side for Schrader in 2017. Schrader won earlier this season at Tri-State Speedway in Pocola, Okla., and again at Macon Speedway in May on his 62nd birthday. Three for Theriault and three for Schrader, and we're not even halfway. Three cheers for both.

"It's been a great year for Ken Schrader Racing. We'd like to add a few more modified wins…we've had a shitload of seconds and thirds…not complaining."

And it just keeps on keeping on.

"We run tonight in Joliet again. We're at Terre Haute Friday and Pevely Saturday…the last two are part of that UMP Summer Nationals Hell Tour. Sunday night we're at 104 Speedway (Lexington, Tenn.) and Monday at Clayhill in Atwood, Tenn."

In another sneak-peek ahead, Schrader will be zigzagging his way to Iowa Speedway for ARCA's next stop on July 8, the Fans With Benefits 150. Schrader has already lined up modified races "on the way" in Macon, Ill. July 6 and Jackson, Minn. July 7.

"I'm not gonna miss an ARCA race if I'm anywhere close."

Schrader's definition of "anywhere close" is 261.5 miles in between Jackson, Minn. and Newton, Iowa…just a hop, skip and a jump on his Suzuki.

With the ARCA side of Schrader's world pumped up with three wins, the Sioux Chief Short Track Challenge lead and the overall lead in the national championship, Schrader's walking on 'cloud nine'.

"Oh my gosh…when we talked at PRI, I thought…'we don't know this kid very well' but I knew right away that he'd be a good fit for us. Getting close to halfway, the first half has been phenomenal. Austin's doing a fantastic job…the boys are doing a fantastic job giving him good stuff to work with. We just gotta keep giving better stuff."

And when he's not "walking on cloud nine", he's riding in No. 9…all the way to Victory Lane.

"We're still adding races...still tweaking the schedule."

Awesome! Ken Schrader still has what it takes to get good finishes as well as wins, whether it's in a stock car or a dirt car. Keep up the good work, Ken!

Was at 141 on Friday. There's a small aisle in front of the announcer's stand  and the regular seats and I'm standing there with my back to the tower watching the heat races and a guy walks by and stands to my left. After a few minutes he takes out his phone and starts taking a few pictures. I notice he has on a #9 hat and I think to myself this guys a Schrader fan. Then I notice he has a pit wristband on, than I look a little closer and by-golly it's Kenny Schrader. I'm thinking this is pretty cool, a Friday nite out in the middle of nowhere and I'm standing next to one of the all time greats. Said good luck to him, he said thanks. BTW it was a hell of a show. National hot shoe beats local guy by like .005 sec. for 10K.
