Valvoline Lap Leader
Sheldon Creed finally got the monkey off his back by winning his first ARCA Racing Series event, and did so in dominating fashion. Creed lead the final 65 laps of the 100 laps of the race, earning the Valvoline Lap Leader Award.
Protect Plus Halfway Leader
“The Showstopper” not only lead the most laps, he also led at the events half-way point (lap 50), earning a $250 bonus from Protect Plus and DuPont.
Creed’s first career victory also extended the #28 Travis Miller owned teams lead in the General Tire Superspeedway Challenge. The 28 holds a 235 point lead over the #18 Gibbs Racing Toyota of Riley Herbst.
General Tire Pole Award
General Tire pole winner Brandon Jones led the first four laps before mechanical issues knocked him from the point. The Atlanta, Ga. driver was going for his third straight ARCA Racing Series win at Michigan before his problem sidelined him with just 27 laps complete. The Michigan Qualifying Session was conducted under ARCA’s new Timed Session format.
Graff Claims Scott Rookie of the Race Award
Joe Graff Jr. finished 5th in his Michigan debut, and earned the Scott Rookie of the Race award. A spin during qualifying put Graff behind early, but the Chad Bryant Racing rookie had a solid day, earning his top five finish of the year.
Toyota Sweeps Manufacturer Contingency Awards
Creed’s victory led a Camry sweep of the top three, and vaulting Toyota to a commanding lead in the Manufacturers Championship after 8 races.
