Sixteen-year old rookie Eddie Fatscher will make his second ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards start Friday, June 15 during the running of the Herr’s Potato Chips 200 at Madison International Speedway.
Back behind the wheel VMS’ No.55 Jenel Construction Toyota, Fatscher is prepared for his upcoming Wisconsin short track showdown.
Fatscher, a native of Long Island, New York returns to Venturini Motorsports’ (VMS) driver lineup after finishing 14th during his ARCA series debut last month at Toledo Speedway.
“I learned a ton in my first series start at Toledo,” says Fatscher. “Although we didn’t get the results we wanted the first time out it was a great experience driving the ARCA car with Venturini. Despite some bad luck during the race it was a solid day of learning.”
Referencing bad luck, Fatscher’s ARCA debut was anything but uneventful.
After qualifying was washed out by rain, Fatscher started mid-pack, helping pave the way for a series of on-track misfortunes for the high school sophomore.
“Missing out on qualifying really hurt us. We had a fast Toyota but never completed our mock run during practice so we had to settle starting on practice times. Starting so far back we got into trouble right away and got spun. A few laps later a lap car stopped in front of us coming out of turn four – we made some contact and it took away our momentum. About midway through the race we blew a right front tire. A lot was going on. Let’s hope the bad stuff is behind us.”
Looking ahead to Madison the New York kid is ready to turn the page.
“I’m definitely going back to the track with more knowledge this time. I’m hoping it shows with better results. It’s a great feeling knowing Venturini Motorsports will unload fast equipment at Madison. Even with that I have to do my job. I’m ready to go.”
Fatscher will join VMS teammates Chandler Smith, Natalie Decker and newcomer Toni Breidinger on Madison’s half-mile track. Fatscher will also compete at Elko Speedway on July 14.
