Fans with Benefits 150 Pre-qualifying Notes

Teams are preparing for General Tire Pole Qualifying for tonight's Fans with Benefits 150 at Iowa Speedway. The roll for the pole will come at 4:45 pm ET/3:45 pm CT.

Riley Herbst was standing with his crew as Bootie Barker and the rest of the team were making pre-qualifying adjustments to the No. 18 NOS/ORCA Coolers Toyota. The team fought a tight condition in practice, and once the sun goes down, Herbst expects the racetrack to magnify whatever condition a particular driver is struggling with. "Once it gets dark, if you're tight you can expect the track to get even tighter and if you're loose it will get even looser," he said. When asked if Barker the team have made the right adjustments, Herbst smiled and said "we'll see."

Meanwhile, Chandler Smith sat in the shade having some lunch as his team went over the nuts and bolts on the No. 20 Craftsman Toyota. When told he was the only driver in ARCA's modern era to win the General Tire Pole Award in his first four career ARCA starts, he smiled and said "that's pretty cool." Smith expects the track "to get skaty" tonight once the sun goes down. "It's a really fun place. It's different. It's going to be a challenge to get the car just right for tonight, but we're fast."

Bret Holmes is making his first start in the No. 52 Ford for Ken Schrader Racing. "It's took me a couple of sessions on the track to get used to the setup on the car," he said. "This car is yawed out way more than my car was. They're a lot more aggressive on the rear camber. We haven't had to spend any time getting the car right, we were able to just roll off the trailer and go fast. The car almost feels like my dirt late model the way the rear of the car hangs out through the corner. It took a few laps to get used to it but we have a lot of speed. We were fourth or fifth quickest of the cars that didn't get to mock up for a second time."

Tonight's Fans with Benefits 150 is scheduled for a 9 am ET/8 am CT green flag. will have live in-race updates as well as live timing and scoring for registered users.
