ARCA Menards Series Opens 2020 Season with 57th Visit to Daytona International Speedway

For the 57th consecutive season since 1964, the ARCA Menards Series will take to the 31-degree banking of Daytona International Speedway to kick off its 2020 season on Saturday, February 8 with the Lucas Oil 200 Driven by General Tire.

The race will be part of the opening weekend of SpeedWeeks presented by AdventHealth, which culminates with the 62nd annual Daytona 500 on Sunday, February 16. The ARCA Menards Series will join the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series on the opening weekend of SpeedWeeks with Daytona 500 Pole Qualifying and The Clash at Daytona slated for the following day, Sunday, February 9.

“It is only fitting we start our 2020 season at the World Center of Racing,” said ARCA president Ron Drager. “We have a lot of positive energy in the series for 2020 and beyond. We are writing an exciting new chapter for our future and starting it at a track with so much ARCA history seems very fitting.”

Harrison Burton, in a Venturini Motorsports Toyota, won in 2019 and in doing so became the third member of the Burton family to win at Daytona. He joined his father, NASCAR on NBC analyst Jeff Burton, who won the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Daytona in July 2000, and his uncle, Ward Burton, the 2002 Daytona 500 champion, as members of the elite fraternity of Daytona winners.

The younger Burton also joins his 2020 NASCAR XFINITY Series team owner Kyle Busch as an ARCA winner at Daytona. Busch won the race in 2004, one of three career ARCA Menards Series victories for the 2015 NASCAR Cup Series champion.

LOther previous ARCA winners at Daytona include 2019 series runner-up Michael Self, 2017 series champion Austin Theriault, nine-time winner Bobby Gerhart, current NASCAR Gander Trucks driver and 2015 series champion Grant Enfinger, and current NASCAR XFINITY Series driver Michael Annett.

The Lucas Oil 200 Driven by General Tire is slated for live broadcast on the FOX Sports family of networks. Broadcast times will be released once finalized. Tickets for all SpeedWeeks Presented by AdventHealth events are available at DaytonaInternationalSpeedway.com.
