Kimmel schools the troops on Springfield mile-dirt; Wins record 5th

SPRINGFIELD IL (8-21-05) – Experience is often the best teacher, and Frank Kimmel had plenty of students Sunday afternoon at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield, Illinois where the savvy veteran handily won the Best Western-Allen Crowe Memorial 100 before a near-capacity crowd.

“It was just another solid effort from the Advance Auto Parts-Pork Ford crew,” said Kimmel. “The car was on a rail; it could do no wrong. We’ve always handled well here, but that may have been the best we’ve ever been here. These wins on the mile-dirts really mean a lot to us. We get really keyed up for the fairgrounds races. There’s nothing like it. I hope ARCA never gives them up.”...

As an industry leader for so long, Jack Bowsher was an inspiration for many over the decades. While his career was, in many ways, unmatched in motorsports, it was his drive, desire, determination and passion for the sport that may ultimately serve as his greatest legacy.

On behalf of all of us at ARCA, our very deepest condolences to the family, friends and fans of this most revered man. God Speed Jack.......

Super Mario Sails to Victory at Nashville

NASHVILLE TN (8-12-06) – Super Mario Gosselin, in the No. 12 James Carter Attorney at Law Chevrolet, recovered from a lap 75 spin and then held off Brent Sherman on a green-white-checker finish to win the ARCA RE/MAX 200 Saturday at Nashville Superspeedway.

“It was just a hard fought day,” said Gosselin, who came back from one lap down en route to the win.  “I have to thank all my family--my brothers, my kids, my wife and my dad. To come back from one lap down is pretty great. I ran out of gas first. Then I thought I had a flat and spun around. I guess it wasn’t all the way flat, but it must have been a little low. It probably had debris on it. After that, we came back and had a good car.”  Launch Video News Clip...

300's a Charm for Kimmel on DuQuoin's "Magic Mile" Dirt

DUQUOIN IL (9-5-05) – Current ARCA RE/MAX Series point leader Frank Kimmel raced back from two unscheduled pit stops and survived epic late-race battles with a rookie and a veteran to win the thrilling Southern Illinois 100 Monday afternoon at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds.

To make it even sweeter, Kimmel’s 64th RE/MAX Series win came in his 300th career start.

“It’s hard to believe we won that race,” said Kimmel. “The car was good in the end, but it took us all day to get the adjustments right. On the dirt, you only pit once, but we pitted three times today to get the car where it needed to be to win the race. What a great day for the Advance Auto Parts-Pork Ford team. I had a ball racing with Justin (Allgaier) and Bob (Strait) there at the end. The track was almost too good; we wore out our tires coming back through the field.”

Veteran Kimmel Holds off Rookie Ragan in Toledo Thriller

TOLEDO OH (9-2-05) – In the end, it was everything that typifies a short track thriller under the lights, complete with flared tempers, close racing and crumbled sheet metal.

And, despite heated pressure from some rookies, one of which left him with a noticeably wrinkled racecar, Frank Kimmel, in the Advance Auto Parts-Pork Ford, held off David Ragan by about two feet to win the hard-fought, action-packed Hantz Group 200 presented by Belle Tire Friday night at Toledo Speedway. It was Kimmel’s seventh ARCA RE/MAX Series victory of 2005 and 63rd of his career in his 299th series start.

“It was a really exciting race,” said Kimmel from victory lane. “A lot of things were happening toward the end there with some of the young kids getting over zealous I guess. Joey Miller raced me clean all night; we raced close lap after lap and we never touched. There was no excuse for the way Ragan drove out there tonight.” ...

It was Miller’s fourth ARCA RE/MAX Series win of 2005 and fifth of his career.

“The guys just worked absolutely awesome on this racecar,” said Miller from victory lane. “More credit needs to go to the crew than anything else. They worked so fast to put this car back together.”
