In the most competitive Daytona field on record, Hessert, in his career-first superspeedway start, led 21 laps and finished sixth. Not a bad way to kick off the 08 season.

ARCA Iron Man Allen; Fire or not, here I come....

By Don Radebaugh (AKA - that RE/MAX Series guy)
TOLEDO OH (1-10-07) – It’s May 29, 2005. The car is upside down. The car is everywhere on fire. The driver, also on fire, cannot see or breathe. But he can feel, oh how he can feel the pain. With one key sense rendered unusable, and without the ability to take in air, he had to somehow pause, assess the situation, and think....a sense he, quite fortunately, took full advantage of. If he could figure out how to extricate himself, he could then deal with the pain. But, first things first; first he must find a way out, or he would not live another day.

“I was this close to giving up,” said ARCA icon Ron Allen, measuring the distance with a burnt index finger and thumb. But he didn’t give up. “I started to think it was my time. Then I thought I’d try this one more time…..to figure a way out.” This time it worked. Allen finally freed himself from the inferno and wiggled away dazed and badly burned. ...
