Bret Holmes has got a lot on his plate these days. The Munford, Alabama driver is not only a full-time student at Auburn University, he also competed full-time on the 2017 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards tour. Driving his own No. 23 Bret Holmes Racing-Holmes II Excavation Chevrolet, Holmes made all 20 races in 2017, finishing 6th in driver championship standings on the strength of 12 top-10 finishes. His top finishes in 2017 include 4th at Elko Speedway, 4th at Michigan Int'l Speedway, 6th at Daytona Int'l Speedway, 7th at Salem Speedway, 7th at Madison Int'l Speedway, 7th at Salem Speedway, 8th at Lucas Oil Raceway, 8th at Winchester Speedway, 9th at Iowa Speedway, 10th at Road America, 10th at Chicagoland Speedway and 10th at Kansas Speedway. Holmes also finished 3rd in SCOTT Rookie of the Year standings in 2017, just 14 points from the top.
The former dirt late model racer burst onto the ARCA scene in 2016, making his debut at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville where he qualified outside pole and finished 5th after leading 6 laps. Holmes made 7 starts altogether in 2016 -- to keep his rookie status alive -- with a career-best finish of 3rd at Salem Speedway. He also finished 4th at Berlin Raceway, 6th at Lucas Oil Raceway, 7th at Kentucky Speedway, 10th at his home track Talladega Superspeedway and 26th in the 2016 season-finale at Kansas Speedway.
