Road to the Championship: How the ARCA Menards Series Points System Works

Have you ever wondered how the ARCA Menards Series awards championship points? It can get a little complex at times, so we thought before we get too far into the season it would be a good idea to break it down for you.

Of course, the race winner is going to get the most points. In the case of the ARCA Menards Series, the winner earns 235 points, and since he or she won the race, there’s a nifty ten point bonus over and above the normal five point per position difference. Second place then earns 220 race points, and from there on through the field it’s a five-point-per-position difference.

Drivers can earn five bonus points for qualifying on the General Tire Pole, for leading a lap, and for leading the most laps. If a driver starts from the pole, leads the most laps, and wins the race, he or she would then earn 250 points.

To incentivize drivers and teams to compete more regularly, ARCA also offers a 250-point bonus for each of four five-race segments in the season. If a driver and team enters and competes in races one through five, six through ten, eleven through fifteen, and sixteen through twenty, he or she earns 250 points. If they compete in all four of the five-race segments, they earn a total of 1000 bonus points.

Twenty-five points are also awarded to each driver and owner who sign in and are prepared to participate in any event that is postponed and rescheduled by rain.
