Chase Briscoe is paying homage to one of his racing heroes for NASCAR’s throwback weekend at Darlington Raceway: Parnelli Jones.
“For NASCAR‘s official throwback weekend at Darlington, I was asked who I wanted to honor,” Briscoe said in a released video. “I could think of only one.”
Briscoe, a two-time winner in the NASCAR Xfnity Series, then went on to list Jones’ accomplishments: driver, car owner, champion, hall of famer, Indy 500 Rookie of the Year, Indy 500 winner, two Baja 500 wins, two Baja 1000 wins, four NASCAR Cup Series wins, six champ car wins, 13 USAC stock car wins. 25 USAC midget wins, 25 USAC sprint car wins, USAC stock car champion, three-time USAC sprint car champion, two Indy 500 wins as a car owner and inducted into 20 hall of fames.
“What more do I need to say? This one‘s for you Parnelli, and all the open wheel legends who came before me.”

Jagger, Parnelli’s grandson and K&N Pro Series West Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender, unsurprisingly approved of the tribute.
So pumped about this one! A legend and also my grandpa. Can‘t wait to see this car on track! https://t.co/GceNJZscKG
