Opportunity Knocks For Parker Retzlaff

A new year means a new opportunity – and a new number — for Parker Retzlaff.

The 16-year-old from Rhinelander, Wisconsin, confirmed this week he will drive the No. 42 Ponsse Toyota for Cook-Finley Racing. Their first race will be the ARCA Menards Series East opener at Florida’s New Smyrna Speedway on Monday, Feb. 10.

“Right now the plan is to run the full season,” said Bruce Cook. “First three for sure, and we plan on doing the full year.”

Last year, Retzlaff made two starts for Visconti Motorsports, scoring a fifth-place finish in the East-West combination race at WWT Raceway at Gateway in August.

Retzlaff made his East debut with a collaboration between Visconti Motorsports, Chad Finley Racing and Bruce Cook Technologies.

A veteran of the ARCA Menards Series as well as the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series, Finley closed up shop on his asphalt program last year to focus on dirt racing, where he won the 2019 track championship at Michigan’s I-96 Speedway. With Finley stepping away, Cook said he is keeping the ARCA cars going and it has provided an opportunity for Retzlaff.
