PRACTICE: Ty Gibbs Makes Late Surge To Top At Winchester

WINCHESTER, Ind. — Ty Gibbs waited to the very end to put up his best run.

Gibbs piloted the No. 18 Monster Energy/Terrible Herbst/ORCA Toyota to the top of the practice charts in Saturday’s 30-minute prep for the afternoon’s Toyota 200 presented by Crosley Brands.

Gibbs late run to the top in the closing minutes of the session produced a lap of 15.834 seconds (113.679 mph) around “The World’s Fastest 1/2 Mile.” In the process, he knocked Hailie Deegan off the No. 1 spot. Deegan had posted a lap of 16.076 (111.968) in her No. 4 Monster Energy Ford.

Bret Holmes was third quick at 16.149 (111.462), followed by Michael Self and Taylor Gray.

Self enters the 17th of 20 ARCA Menards Series races with a one-point lead over Holmes in the championship.

ARCA Menards Series West championship points leader Jesse Love was sixth fastest, followed by Drew Dollar, Brad Smith, Mike Basham and Eric Caudell.

General Tire qualifying is slated for 1:30 p.m. ET, and the green flag for the Toyota 200 presented by Crosley Brands is at 3 p.m. The race will be streamed live on TrackPass on NBC Gold and will air on MAVTV at 6 p.m.
