MILLINGTON, Tenn. — Ty Gibbs was nearly perfect last weekend, and he’s looking to repeat the feat Saturday at Memphis International Raceway.
After being fastest in practice, the 17-year-old North Carolina driver won the General Tire Pole Award in qualifying for the evening’s Sioux Chief PowerPEX 200.

Gibbs drove the No. 18 Monster/Terrible Hrbst/ORCA Toyota to a lap of 23.219 seconds (116.284 mph) around the .750-mile track.
Last week at Indiana’s Winchester Speedway, Gibbs was fastest in practice, won the pole and led 199 of 200 laps en route to his fifth ARCA Menards Series win of the season.
Bret Holmes qualified second at 23.311 (115.825).
Both Gibbs and Holmes are chasing the championship points leaders.
The Sioux Chief PowerPEX 200 is the final race of the Sioux Chief Showdown. Gibbs trails Sam Mayer by six points. It’s also the 18th of 20 races in the ARCA Menards Series, and Holmes is three points behind Michael Self.
Mayer qualified fourth and will start on the second row alongside third-place qualifier Hailie Deegan. Self qualified seventh.
Drew Dollar was fifth in qualifying, followed by Taylor Gray, Self, Chandler Smith, Kris Wright and Thad Moffitt.
The Sioux Chief PowerPEX 200 is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET and will air on MAVTV and stream live on TrackPass on NBC Gold.
