SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Ryan Unzicker displayed impressive speed when he logged the third fastest practice time Sunday morning on the Springfield Mile at the Illinois State Fair.
He confirmed that dirt-track speed when he drove the No. 24 RJR Transportation Chevrolet to the top of the Illinois Truck & Equipment Allen Crowe 100 qualifying chart and earned his first career General Tire Pole Award in the ARCA Menards Series.

Unzicker posted a time of 34.047 seconds (105.736 mph) in single-lap qualifying on the one-mile clay oval Sunday afternoon to earn the pole.
Ty Gibbs qualified second with a lap time of 34.617 seconds (103.995 mph), .570 seconds off Unzicker’s pace.
Bret Holmes and Michael Self will line up for Sunday afternoon’s race on the second row after qualifying third and fourth, respectively. Holmes, who leads Self in the championship by two points, was .005 seconds faster in qualifying.
Hailie Deegan, Kelly Kovski, Will Kimmel, Corey Heim, Taylor Gray and Drew Dollar rounded out the top 10 in qualifying.
The Illinois Truck & Equipment Allen Crowe 100 is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. CT. The race will air on MAVTV and stream on TrackPass on NBC Sports Gold.
