Veteran driver Tony Toste and the Joe Nava-owned Performance P-1 Motorsports have teamed up for the 2021 ARCA Menards Series West season.
The team plans to compete in all nine West Series races in 2021, starting with the season-opening General Tire 150 at Phoenix Raceway on March 12.
Team sponsorship includes Sealmaster, MMI Ind. Papich Construction, Toste Construction, Jan’s Towing, Stoughton Printing, Everlast Roofing and Wallace Sign Company.
Toste has raced previously in the West Series as recently as the Las Vegas Motor Speedway dirt track in 2019. He first ran a NASCAR Camping World Truck in 1997, competing in two races that year. He then ran a full season in what’s now the ARCA Menards Series West in 1998. Concentrating on business, Toste ran partial West Series schedules in 1999 and 2008 before running one race per year in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2019.
To keep in racing shape, Toste has been running Dirt Super Late Models in Arizona, Illinois and Missouri. Just last month, he set fast time in the Arizona feature event.
Performance P-1 Motorsports is a West Coast team that has raced in NASCAR and ARCA since the 1970s, and its late model program at Irwindale Speedway is a driver development program. A who’s who of drivers have raced for Nava and PP1M since its inception, including Greg Pursley, Steve Portenga, Butch Gilliland, Andrew Myers, Vince G, Ron Esau, Greg Sachs, Ray Elder and Nick Joanides, to name a few.
