Following the news that Dean Thompson, driver of the No. 51 Thompson Pipe Group/High Point Racing Ford, will miss tonight’s ARCA Menards Series West event at Irwindale Speedway, multi-time ARCA West winner Ryan Partridge has agreed to fill in as substitute driver.
Thompson is following COVID-19 protocols. In accordance with ARCA protocol and CDC guidelines, he will remain at home to rest and recover.
Partridge, a former Irwindale Speedway track champion, served as the spotter for the No. 51 team in July when Thompson set fast times and led a race-high 144 laps en route to a second-place finish.
In 44 career ARCA Menards West Series starts, Partridge has accumulated five wins, 28 top-fives, 39 top-10s and 7 General Tire Pole Awards.
Tonight’s NAPA Auto Parts 150 presented by West Coast Stock Car Hall of Fame will be broadcast live on NBC’s TrackPass at 10 p.m. ET.
