Rajah Caruth making Xfinity Series debut at Richmond for Alpha Prime Racing

Rajah Caruth, a full-time competitor in the ARCA Menards Series with Rev Racing, will make his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut on April 2 at Richmond Raceway driving for Alpha Prime Racing.

The 19-year-old Caruth will become the third active Black driver in NASCAR’s three national divisions. Bubba Wallace currently competes in the NASCAR Cup Series for 23XI Racing and Jesse Iwuji competes in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for Jesse Iwuji Motorsports.

“Richmond Raceway was the first track where I ever attended a NASCAR race as a kid, so it’s incredibly personal to me that my first Xfinity Series race will be here,” said Caruth. “This is a truly full circle moment for me to actually be one of the drivers out there on the track. It’s the culmination of everything I have been working towards. I look forward to taking my racing career to the next level and seeing how I perform in the Xfinity Series.”

Caruth enjoyed a strong year in 2021, during which he competed in the ARCA Menards Series East and select Late Model events. He won three Late Model races last year as part of Rev Racing’s Drive for Diversity team and finished sixth in the East Series standings, scoring two top-five and four top-10 finishes.

The Xfinity Series race at Richmond is one of several on Caruth’s schedule this season with Alpha Prime Racing. His next race is scheduled for Dover Motor Speedway on April 30. Additional Xfinity Series starts for Caruth will come at Pocono Raceway, Kansas Speedway, Martinsville Speedway and Phoenix Raceway.

He will also continue to compete virtually in the eNASCAR Road to Pro Qualification Series on iRacing.

Caruth is currently ranked second in the ARCA Menards Series standings after finishes of 11th and fourth in the opening two races of the season. He’ll return to ARCA Menards Series competition on April 23 at Talladega Superspeedway.

“Getting to work with the Alpha Prime Racing and the Drive for Diversity teams has been such a great opportunity,” said Caruth. “I’ve been really fortunate to have such great people surrounding me in my career, and I’m excited to continue to compete with NASCAR.”
