The second and final road-course event on the 2024 ARCA Menards Series calendar takes place at one of the United States’ most historic venues in Watkins Glen International.
Watkins Glen’s impact on American motorsports is one defined by a rich tradition of racing. The facility hosted the United States Grand Prix from 1961-80, when many of the best competitors in Formula One history like Jim Clark, Graham Hill, James Hunt, Niki Lauda and Gilles Villeneuve all got to celebrate in Watkins Glen’s Victory Lane.
After Formula One departed Watkins Glen, stock car racing found a home at the complex, with the NASCAR Cup Series holding events every year except 2020. The ARCA Menards Series has only recently started to make their own history at Watkins Glen, having competed there since 2021 following a one-off visit in 2001 won by John Finger.
The fast, 11-turn layout at Watkins Glen has challenged many elite drivers throughout its long history and will so once again when the ARCA Menards Series arrives this weekend for the General Tire 100 at The Glen. Conquering Watkins Glen will require precision as competitors battle the track and each other Friday afternoon.
Tickets to the General Tire 100 at The Glen can be purchased here. Below is everything to know ahead of the 17th race on the 2024 ARCA Menards Series schedule.

What to watch:
With ARCA Menards Series competitors making both left and right turns this weekend, all eyes will be on Connor Zilisch at Watkins Glen International.
The four-time national series winner in 2024 boasts one of the most impressive road-course resumes of any driver in the field. Along with becoming the first American driver to win the prestigious CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy back in 2020, Zilisch also picked up LMP2 class victories in both the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring this year.
If Zilisch wishes to avenge his near miss from Watkins Glen one year ago, he will have to fend off his burgeoning rival William Sawalich, who has won six of the last nine races. One of those triumphs came at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, which Sawalich obtained after Connor Mosack was penalized for a restart violation.
Mosack is back with the ARCA Menards Series field for Friday’s General Tire 100 at The Glen, this time in the No. 23 with Sigma Performance Services instead of Pinnacle Racing Group. The 2024 season has been strong for SPS, as the team earned their first ARCA Menards Series West triumph earlier this year at Sonoma Raceway with Sam Mayer behind the wheel.
Joining the ARCA Menards Series regulars at Watkins Glen is NASCAR Xfinity Series competitor Brandon Jones in the No. 42 for Cook Racing Technologies. Jones has visited Victory Lane eight times with the ARCA Menards Series, which includes a triumph at Watkins Glen in 2022 while driving for Joe Gibbs Racing.
Other notable names headlining a stacked field for the ARCA Menards Series at Watkins Glen include Marco Andretti, Andy Jankowiak, Thomas Annunziata, Jake Finch, Gio Ruggiero and Dylan Lupton, among others.
