PIT BOX: West Series season resumes at Madera Speedway as championship battle intensifies

After more than a month off, the ARCA Menards Series West season gets back underway Saturday night with the running of the West Coast Stock Car Motorsports Hall of Fame 150 at California’s Madera Speedway (7 p.m. PT / 10 p.m. ET on FloRacing).

Saturday’s event will mark just the ninth time the West Series has visited the 0.333-mile track and only the second time the series has traveled to Madera Speedway in consecutive seasons.

One season ago, Kaden Honeycutt dominated at Madera, leading all 150 laps on his way to his second career West Series triumph. Other victors at Madera include West Series legend Jack McCoy, Bill Sedgwick, Doug George, Butch Gilliland, Lance Hooper, Mike Duncan and Eric Holmes.

Tickets to Saturday’s West Coast Stock Car Motorsports Hall fo Fame 150 are available here. Below is everything you need to know about the ninth race of the 2024 West Series season.

With only four races remaining in the 2024 ARCA Menards Series West season, the battle for the series championship between Tyler Reif and Sean Hingorani couldn’t be much closer.

Entering Saturday’s West Coast Stock Car Motorsports Hall of Fame 150 at Madera Speedway, Reif holds a slim, seven-point advantage on Hingorani. Both will look to add points to their totals and close in on the series championship with a win Saturday evening.

Standing in their way will be a strong contingent of competitors looking for their own trips to Victory Lane, including Trevor Huddleston, who is still in search of his first win of the 2024 season for High Point Racing. Also still in search of their first victories of the season are Bill McAnally Racing’s Jack Wood and Eric Johnson Jr., both of whom will be in the field.

Jaron Giannini returns to the seat of the No. 23 Chevrolet for Sigma Performance Services to make his fourth start of the season. Eric Nascimento Jr., who won the General Tire Pole Award at Madera one season ago, is also back in action for his third start of the year.

Rip Michels, the 2006 NASCAR Southwest Tour champion, will make his West Series debut at the wheel of the No. 71 Jan’s Towing Ford previously driven by Nick Joanides. Other notable entrants include Robbie Kennealy, Kyle Keller, Todd Souza, Takuma Koga and Henry Barton, among others.

The full entry list for Saturday’s West Coast Stock Car Motorsports Hall of Fame 150 will be available later this week.
