PIT BOX: West Series prepares for a Saturday night show at Colorado National Speedway

The next race for the ARCA Menards Series West on Saturday will see the division make its only trip to the Centennial State of Colorado this year for a 150-lap battle around Colorado National Speedway.

Serving as one of a handful of paved tracks in the state, Colorado National Speedway has entertained fans and competitors alike since opening to the public in 1965. The history of the complex features plenty of visits from the West Series, with last year’s race marking the ARCA Menards Series platform’s return following a three-year absence.

Everyone is hoping for a drier experience at Colorado this weekend, as the 2025 West Series event at the track was shortened to 60 laps due to persistent rainfall. Despite this, the race was still a significant one for the West Series, as Bill McAnally earned his 100th career victory as an owner with Jake Bollman taking home the checkered flag.

Although Colorado is less than a half mile in length, the track’s layout still creates plenty of opportunities for side-by-side racing. Balancing patience and aggression will be crucial for West Series competitors at Colorado if they seek to join the list of winners at the track that includes Ron Hornaday Jr., Greg Pursley, Derek Thorn and Jesse Love, among others.

One year after picking up the team’s milestone 100th ARCA Menards Series West win, Bill McAnally Racing is heading back to Colorado National Speedway in search of another checkered flag.

Piloting the No. 19 that won at Colorado in 2025 is Mason Massey, who delivered McAnally a checkered flag to open the 2026 season at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway in February. Three top fives in four races have Massey second in the West Series standings, so a second victory Saturday would be beneficial toward his title aspirations.

Colorado carries plenty of significance for Massey’s Bill McAnally Racing teammate Hailie Deegan, as it was the site of her third and most recent West Series win in 2019. Currently third in West Series points, Deegan will look to utilize her past success at Colorado so she can make her return to Victory Lane on Saturday evening.

Trevor Huddleston’s triumph at Shasta Speedway in the most recent West Series race gave him a 12-point advantage over the other full-time competitors ahead of this weekend’s trip to Colorado. Huddleston has yet to win at Colorado across his three West Series starts there, but he did obtain a third-place showing during last year’s rain-shortened affair.

Kyle Keller, who finished second to Huddleston in the West Series championship last year, will make his season debut at Colorado driving the No. 4 Chevrolet for Nascimento Motorsports. Fresh off a breakout season that included his first victory at Tri-City Raceway, Keller seeks to re-establish his momentum from 2025 by improving upon a runner-up showing during last year’s Colorado race.

Other drivers set to compete at Colorado include Robbie Kennealy, Cole Denton, Mia Lovell, Will Robinson, Andrew Chapman and Tyler Tomassi.

The complete entry list for the Legendary Billy Green 150 presented by NAPA Auto Parts will be released later this week.
