Catching Up With Katie Osborne

She’s a familiar face to those who remember going to watch SPEED’s “Trackside” shows and to those who watch the Mecum auctions on NBCSN, but Kate Osborne is a new face to the ARCA Menards Series broadcast team.

Osborne made her debut with FS1’s ARCA coverage at Daytona and followed with another show from Phoenix, and is planning on patrolling pit road for the remaining races on the FOX Sports calendar.

Just like everyone, her goal while the motorsports world has been shut down is to stay healthy, and to stay busy. An Indiana native who has transplanted to Orange County, California, Osborne has been able to enjoy the beauty of her surroundings while keeping a respectful distance from those around her.

“Oh, I have no problem with the social distance thing at all,” she said with a laugh. “Thankfully I live in an area where there are some walking trails and I have been able to go out and get some exercise. I have spent some time in the kitchen too, learning a lot of great new recipes. I am not a big believer in left overs but I made some taco meat the other day that was so great I ate it for lunch for the next couple of days. We always look for the silver linings for every situation and that’s definitely one of them.”

What are she doing to prepare herself for once we get back to normal, whatever the new normal may be?

“I feel very healthy. I am getting rest. I am exercising in my apartment. I am doing lunges and jumping jacks in my living room. I have rearranged my furniture countless times. I am really trying to wrap my mind around what the future will be like once we get back to some semblance or normal, whether it’s two weeks or eight weeks or even longer. We just have to work to keep those negative thoughts out of our head and focus on the positive.”

She’s also trying to stay active and keeping her broadcasting skills sharp by producing content on social media.

“I have always wanted to have a morning show of some sort, like the Today show or something like that,” she said. “While we do have some down time and we aren’t going to the track or doing auction shows, I wanted to stay active and I thought it would be great to do “Have a Drink with…” shows.

“We did one with Hailie Deegan and there are lots of other people I think it would be fun and interesting to sit and chat with.”
